Tooth loss can make you feel self-conscious about your smile. Dental implants can restore that confidence by enhancing your functionality and overall oral health. Choose the longest-lasting, most secure tooth replacement option and start smiling again. Whether you’re missing one tooth or a full arch of teeth, we have permanent replacement options to meet every need.
Dental implants consist of a metal implant that’s placed directly into your gums and jaw, along with an implant restoration (such as a crown) that permanently attaches to the implant. At Lakeview Modern Dentistry, our dentists specialize in dental implant preparation, placement, and restoration.

If you're missing several teeth or need extractions, a permanent denture solution may be a great option to restore your smile. With implant-supported dentures, we place 4-6 implants and then permanently fix a full arch of 3D-printed teeth to those implants, allowing you to chew, eat, and talk with ease again.

At your consultation, your dentist will help decide if dental implants are right for you. Your doctor will examine your mouth, take x-rays, and determine if your jaw is strong and healthy enough to support one or more dental implants. You and your dentist can also explore other restorative dentistry options at this time.

After you’ve been approved for treatment, your dentist will create a surgical plan for your dental implant, and schedule your oral surgery appointment, typically right in the office. At this appointment, your dentist will create a small opening in your gum tissue, place a dental implant secure in the jaw, then clean the area and suture it shut to encourage proper healing.

Once your implant has been placed, healing will begin. It takes 1-2 weeks to heal completely from surgery, but it will take between 3-6 months for your dental implant to bond permanently with your jaw bone in a process called “osseointegration”.

You’ll come back to our office for a few follow-up appointments as your mouth heals from surgery. During those appointments, your dentist will ensure you’re healing properly, and take impressions of your implant and teeth. These impressions are sent to a lab, where your implant tooth or teeth will be made.
Once your custom implant tooth has come back from the lab, the dentist will permanently insert it on top of your implant. This appointment is quick, easy and you will be ready to start smiling and chewing immediately after!

Dental implants do not require a lot of special care. To keep your mouth healthy, simply make sure you brush and floss regularly, and see your dentist every six months for a teeth cleaning and oral exam.
Once you’ve been approved for treatment, your doctor will schedule your oral surgery appointment and provide a surgical plan. During the surgery, your dentist in Flagstaff will make an incision in your gum tissue to securely place a dental implant in the jaw. Next, the area will be cleaned and sutures will be placed to begin the healing process.
Healing & Osseointegration
Your gums and jawbone will begin to heal once your implant has been placed. After 1-2 weeks, the incision site will be healed, but it will take 3-6 months for the implant to permanently bond with your jaw bone through a process called osseointegration. To ensure you are healing properly, we will see you for a couple of check ups during the osseointegration process.
The final step in the implant treatment process is the restoration. Your restoration, or prosthetic dental crown, will be custom crafted to match your smile and securely affixed to the titanium implant. Once your new tooth is in place, your smile will be complete!

"Wonderful experience from start to finish. Shannon was great at getting my insurance information ahead of time to try and alleviate any surprises with cost. The office had a warm, comforting feeling when I walked in. Sharyn was very personable and thorough with taking pictures and my cleaning. Dr. Kevin was amazing. You could hear him throughout the office just being cheerful and upbeat with his team. He took his time to get to know me and explain things in a way no other dentist has. He truly cares about his patients and team, and it shows. I will be bringing my whole family here from now on!".

"Lakeview Modern Dentistry was an awesome experience! I’ve never had an issue with going to the dentist, but Lakeview went out of their way to make the entire visit relaxed and easy. There’s a clean, modern look to the waiting area with beverages and a kids area available. Each client is taken back to a private room with Netflix, Disney +, and Amazon Music available! It was a fun treat getting my teeth cleaned while listening to Beyoncé! All the staff is welcoming and kind, with your comfort in mind. I highly recommend the experience at Lakeview!"

"Wow! Just had my first dental check-up in 2 years, and was blown away by the staff at Lakeview. My former dentist had retired, and I was lazy about finding another one. I just picked Lakeview because I drove past their new building and thought it looked cool. I looked them up online and liked their messaging. The facility is beautiful, with lots of special touches, especially for kids. I got a warm neck wrap, tea and a welcome goodie bag! It was like going to a spa! Sharyn was so friendly and took her time to do a thorough job after my long hiatus! Dr. Kevin explained so many options to me based on my questions. No pressure. Just the options. I was really impressed! I totally recommend them. They are very family-oriented, with super fancy equipment."

"Everyone at Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry is phenomenal. Debra's very professional and courteous at the front desk. Maddie is a fantastic assistant. She took me right back and made sure to explain everything to me. Dr. Chittenden took the time to answer all my questions and is a very careful dentist. My visit was quick and pain free! I had a crown placed and I was out the door in 15 minutes. Highly recommend this practice"

"The moment I walked through the door I could tell I was in the right place. (I’ve had 38 years in dentistry myself and retired 3 years ago). Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry showed empathy, professionalism and concern about what I wanted from them!!! My concerns were their PRIMARY focus and they spent extra time getting to know me! Extra gentle and extra caring. Wonderful staff. Easy everything! Wonderful experience and I will definitely encourage everyone I know to give them a chance because they’ll not disappoint!"

"Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry is Amazing. When looking at the business name, many people see Dentistry. However, after you have been seen and cared for, another word starts to show...the word FAMILY. The staff is compassionate and loving and will take care of you. I highly recommend Cedar Avenue Family Dentistry."

Dr. Kevin DeGroot grew up in Green Bay, Wisconsin where his interest in dentistry began early. His own positive dental experiences combined with his dad’s best friend being a dentist sparked his intrigue. He attended both undergraduate and graduate school in Milwaukee, receiving his Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Marquette University School of Dentistry. After graduating, he moved to Madison with his wife where he worked as an associate dentist for over 7 years. It was then that he decided to open his own practice with the belief that excellent dental care should be accessible to everyone.

If you have minor or moderate orthodontic issues, you are likely a good candidate for treatment with Invisalign. So long as your mouth is free of any oral health issues like gum disease or tooth decay, you will probably be eligible to proceed with treatment. However, Invisalign is not for everyone. Severe orthodontic issues may not be able to be addressed with Invisalign. In these cases, we usually recommend treatment with traditional metal or ceramic braces as they can provide more powerful results. To find out about your options for orthodontic treatment, schedule your consultation today!
While Invisalign trays look very similar to night guards and mouthguards, we do not recommend that you use Invisalign as a nightguard. The clear plastic trays are designed to gently shift your teeth, not protect them. If you grind your teeth at night, we may recommend that you get a night guard to protect your teeth and go with traditional braces instead of Invisalign. If you wear your aligners at night and notice that they are becoming cracked or worn down, this may be a sign that you are grinding your teeth at night. This will affect your treatment so be sure to let your doctor know right away if you think you might be grinding your teeth.
The cost of treatment with Invisalign is usually comparable to the cost of traditional braces. Every case is different, though, so it’s important to discuss your budget with your doctor. During your consultation, your doctor will consider multiple factors including your needs, your lifestyle, and your budget before helping you decide which treatment to proceed with.
Invisalign aligners are nearly impossible to see when wearing them. This is because they are made out of clear plastic and are perfectly fit to your smile. Your trays will be custom-made trimmed to fit to your gum line for a more seamless look. Plus there are no metal brackets or wires, so you can feel confident in your smile throughout treatment. However, if you eat or drink with your aligners in, they could become stained, making them more visible.
These clear aligners are designed onto a mold of your teeth. A lab technician will apply layers of a photo-sensitive liquid resin to this custom mold. Next, the technician will expose this resin to a laser, curing it into a hard, yet flexible, thermoplastic. This plastic is called SmartTrack®, and it was created exclusively for Invisalign treatment. It’s FDA-approved and contains no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten.
